During the Dutch ear Negmabo was popular for producing Cinnamon., the town reflects the European days and there are many churches. Most hotels and guesthouses are located at the main road that heads north from the town centre to the beach.
Our hotel for the night - Olnaro Negambo Hotel
I wanted to stay in Negambo before my flight to Maldives. Going from Colombo to Negambo by a van cost me US$30/-.
We booked a nice boutique style hotel recommended by our travel agent. We stayed in a family room which was very spacious. Our room have a DBL and a single bed with satellite tv, airconditioned, bathroom was very clean and have a separate shower cabin. the price was very reasonable when compared to the standard of the hotel.
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. There is restaurant just next to the reception serves big potions which is enough for two person.
The main highlight of the hotel is its swimming pool. Our kids love to spend hours at the pool. Only negative thing about the hotel is during the weekend the hotel rent out its pool for some schools and we had some difficulty as there were many student swimmers occupying the pool.
It takes a 5 min tuk tuk ride from the hotel to beac and prices was very reasonable. There is a KFC and a Pizza hut and many other food outlets near by.
