The commitment of an existence I felt when our boat comes closer to the little island “Thinadhoo” located in Vaavu Atoll.
We choose to stay at Oceanic Village is a modern boutique hotel with 4 rooms, with wooden deck, a kitchen with a small restaurant and lounge area with comfortable seatings.
Mostly the food is served at the private beach area of the hotel. There is a private chef who prepares daily fresh seafood with local Maldivian and western cuisines.
Waking up in the morning getting onto our snorkel gear to explore the beautiful vibrant house reef just opposite the Oceanic Village lodge is our daily ritual. The house reef of the village is so rich with abundance of marine life to witness from turtles, manta rays, baby sharks and different varieties of colourful reef fishes.
HOUSE REEF THINADHOO ISLAND
We made three excursions visiting to nearby Ambara island which is a 45 minutes boat trip and a sandbank just 30 minutes away. We went diving with the dive centre at the island in the morning and we did one night dive to Alimatha corner. Alimatha corner night dive was one of an unforgettable experience with hundreds of nurse sharks carelessly moving up and down circling around us.
SAND BANK TRIP
Returning to the lodge after our fishing trip on our last night at the lodge, cook made BBQ theme dinner at the beach and the staff organize a local music event called Boduberu. The local island boys teach us the spectacular “bodberu” dance moves which was a wonderful and unforgettable experience.
